Esta terapia minimiza la necesidad de intervenciones quirúrgicas permitiendo a los pacientes mantener la glándula y su función.
En este sentido, la Dra. Savluk destacó que "esta terapia es particularmente útil para los pacientes con microcarcinoma papilar de tiroides que no desean someterse a una operación, o que prefieren no estar en un régimen de seguimiento activo". Además, es especialmente efectiva para el cáncer de tiroides recurrente en los ganglios del cuello.
James preguntó sobre la disponibilidad de esta terapia en Argentina, a lo que la Dra. Savluk confirmó su presencia en el país. "Nuestro equipo ha estado realizando estas terapias desde 2021. Hemos tratado a un número considerable de pacientes con resultados muy prometedores. Los pacientes están satisfechos, principalmente porque no tienen que pasar por el quirófano", afirmó.
