The Photographer's Podcast

If you’ve found your way here, I want you to know this: you’re not alone. If you’ve ever looked around and wondered if you’re falling behind… If you’ve questioned whether all the effort, all the waiting, all the late nights editing or dreaming or doubting—will ever lead to something real… I created this episode for you. Inside, I’m sharing something really personal, something I wrote after coming back to my camera and realizing just how many seasons I’ve spent questioning my place in all of this, too. This isn’t about pushing harder or rushing to catch up. It’s a...

The Photographer's Podcast

Alright. We said we were making a podcast comeback before, and then… we disappeared again. But this time? It’s real. It’s happening. It’s waiting for you right now. I wanted this first episode back to feel like a reset—something light, fun, and like you’re just hanging out with friends who get your nerdy obsession with photography. So I called in Rachel Burns—a wildly talented motherhood + brand photographer, (TPP & Flash Course Alumni), and one of my good friends.  She’s built a career that blends storytelling, emotion, and real life, the kind of work that makes you...

The Photographer's Podcast

Have you ever had one of those weeks where your to-do list just stares at you like, “Yeah… you’re never finishing me”?  Same.  Between work, life, family, endless responsibilities, and trying to remember what sleep feels like (hiii mom life!), it can feel hard to even think about making time for your photography dreams, let alone actually work towards them. Here’s the thing though, no matter how busy life feels, you can make space for your photography and your dreams. You just need a way to carve out time, even when it feels like there’s...

The Photographer's Podcast

Social media used to feel SO fun. I mean, think back to the days when we’d just take a photo with our iphone, slap the Valencia filter on it and call it a day. It was so simple back then, so pure... But then came the algorithm... And with it, the never ending demand for MORE! More likes, more followers, more content… more, more, more! It kinda becomes exhausting, doesn’t it? As photographers, we pour our hearts into our work, only to feel like we're constantly chasing something that keeps moving further away. And then you add in the constant stream of heartbreaking news every...

65: 65: "I don't know who I am anymore. Rediscovering My Creative Identity After Becoming a Mom"

The Photographer's Podcast

Well, hiiiiiiii friend! 👋 It’s been a while, but I’m back in your inbox…and so is The Photographer’s Podcast. 🥹 But, in all honesty, I’m actually not really back. Not the whole way, at least. Because this whole becoming a mom thing has changed me, and I’m not the same person anymore. Who am I? I’m not quite sure yet, but I do know I feel different. I’m a different business owner, a different photographer, a different wife, a different human. And, most importantly, mom to two little angel babies. So, again, Hi! I’m here and the podcast is back, and I’m so excited to be...

I’m baaaaaackkkk (with two new best friends) ... You heard that right, The Photographer’s Podcast is BACK!  But before we get into it, I want to thank you for being here, for allowing me this season of rest as I adjust to this new mom life. I’d be lying if I said I was actually adjusted by now. This is a process that’s gonna take time, and I’m enjoying the freedom and flexibility I have as a photographer to take it all in without having to rush back into work. So, thank you. Being a photographer who’s in control of their own schedule, flexibility and freedom, is truly a gift....

63: What to Do When a Client Asks for Your RAW Files + WE'RE GOING ON A BREAK! show art 63: What to Do When a Client Asks for Your RAW Files + WE'RE GOING ON A BREAK!

The Photographer's Podcast

Most photographers at one point or another have been hit with the dreaded question… “Hey, do you think you could send me the raw files from our shoot?!” It’s like a dagger in every photographer's heart… We’re immediately plagued with questions like… Did they hate the photos? Did they hate the editing? Did they hate the colors?! Do they hate ME?! It’s enough to make us spiral out of control. But it doesn’t have to be like that. I’ve experienced this question several times throughout my career and I’ve happily given clients my raw files, and I’ve happily NOT given clients...

The Photographer's Podcast

Get ready for the therapy session you didn’t realize you needed today! I’m so excited to be sharing an Instagram Live I had last month with the amazing Jordan Stratton, an alumni from The Photographer’s Path. Jordan is an incredible wedding photographer from Oklahoma and I can’t wait for you to get to know her today. Jordan started TPP in Fall of 2022. A few weeks after joining, she quit her full-time job of 8 years to pursue photography. Talk about a MAJOR CHANGE right?! Some of you might be sweating just thinking about this transition. But Jordan didn’t just blindly quit, she knew...

The Photographer's Podcast

If I could have told myself a year ago that today I'd be pregnant with 2 biscuits, welcoming an incredible new group of students into TPP, and sitting on my deck outside my cabin in Big Sur on MY BABYMOON, I’d have burst into tears.   It’s all I wanted, you know? And it is STILL what I want. I’m so grateful, and so thankful, and so looking forward to what life has in store coming up.   But, guess what? As it happens, I’m burned out. Fulfilled? 10000% Yesssss. But exhausted and burned out? Yusssss.   Which is why Dustin and I are in Big Sur right now for a little...

The Photographer's Podcast

Yes, you read that right. I dunno about you, but lately I've been feeling exhaused. I don't know if it's pregnancy exhaustion, work exhaustion, end of summer exhaustion, or all of the above ... but I've been tired.  So today, I thought it'd be fun to change the pace around here a little bit...  Today I'm sharing an epic adventure from the most challenging/dangerous experience I've ever encountered while location scouting. *hint* - poisonous sea snake, komodo dragons and getting lost at sea.  In this episode, we're diving deep into the importance of location scouting and the...

More Episodes

Photographers, have you ever turned down something that could have been amazing… because you felt a little scared?

Maybe you ...

... Said no to an event you were invited to because you thought you wouldn’t fit in.

... Didn’t sign up for that photography class because you thought you’d fail.

…Said no to that shoot opportunity because you were intimidated by the client.

If you’ve ever felt anything like this, you might be experiencing a whole lot of imposter syndrome.

AKA that pesky voice inside your head that says you’re not meant to be where you are. That you’re faking it. That you’re not good enough to succeed. That you don’t deserve it. That you’re the wrong person for the job.

Who can relate?!

🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️

If you’re anything like me, then you’ve been able to relate for wayyyy tooo loooong.

But … I’ve gotta ask:

Are you letting imposter syndrome affect your entire business?

Your entire life?

Are you letting it keep you from saying yes?

Are you letting it keep you from being proud of yourself?

Are you letting it keep you from finding joy in your passion?

I have to beg you, my friend… take some time to think about it.

Because life is far too short to push aside your dreams out of fear. Life is far too short to shrink yourself down so you don’t take up space. Life is far too short to sit back when you were meant to shine.

If you’ve ever let imposter syndrome take the wheel, today's podcast episode is for you.
