EX CH 15 THE SONG OF MOSES … THE FIRST BIBLICAL SONG, HYMN, OR “ODE” (THERE ARE 9 BIBLICAL ODES, THIS IS THE FIRST, THE 2^nd IS DEUT 32, THE 9^th IS LK 1, THE MAGNIFICAT, SUNG BY MARY, ABOUT GIVING BIRTH TO MESSIAH.

THIS PORTION OF SCRIPTURE IS UNIQUE IN THAT THE HEBREW WAS NEVER UPDATED AS THE NATION GREW. LANGUAGES CHANGE, THINK OF CHAUCER’S ENGLISH COMPARED TO 21^st CENTURY ENGLISH … AS THE BIBLICAL SCRIBES COPYING THE SCRIPTURES, AND THE EDITORS, UPDATED THE LANGUAGE THROUGHOUT ISRAEL’S HISTORY THIS HYMN’S LANGUAGE IS STILL IN IT’S ANCIENT HEBREW FORM WHICH MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO TRANSLATE … THINK OF READING SOMETHING IN OLDE ENGLISH.

1Then Moses and the people of Israel sang this song to the Lord, saying, “I will sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea. 2 The Lord is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him. (1 HE DESTROYED PHAROAH’S ARMY, 2 HE PROTECTED ISRAEL) 3The Lord is a man of war; the Lord (YAHWEH) is his name. 4 “Pharaoh’s chariots and his host he cast into the sea, and his chosen officers were sunk in the Red Sea. (EGYPTIAN SUPERNATURAL SEA OF REEDS IN THE AFTERLIFE AND HARD/HEAVY HEARTS SINKING THERE … THE ETERNALLY DROWNED) 5The floods covered them; they went down into the depths like a stone. 6 Your right hand, O Lord, glorious in power, your right hand, O Lord, shatters the enemy. (THE EGYPTIAN GOD, MANTU, THE RIGHT ARM OF RA – YAHWEH’S ARM IS STRONGER) 7In the greatness of your majesty you overthrow your adversaries; (LITERALLY “SATANS”, OR FALSE EGYPTIAN GODS) you send out your fury; it consumes them like stubble. 8At the blast of your nostrils (AN ANCIENT IDOM OF SOMEONE’S NOSE BEING HOT WHEN THEY’RE ANGRY, CONVERSLY, THE HEBREW IDIOM FOR SOMEONE BEING SLOW TO ANGER WAS THAT THEY WERE “LONG NOSED”) the waters piled up; the floods stood up in a heap; the deeps congealed in the heart of the sea. 9The enemy said, ‘I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil, my desire shall have its fill of them. I will draw my sword; my hand shall destroy them.’ 10You blew with your wind; (THE BREATH OF GOD IS THE HOLY SPIRIT 2 Thess 2:8And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will kill with the breath of his mouth and bring to nothing by the appearance of his coming.) the sea covered them; they sank like lead in the mighty waters. 11 “Who is like you, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders? 12You stretched out your right hand; the earth (ERETZ: CAN MEAN EARTH, OR, UNDERWORLD-HADES) swallowed them. 13“You have led in your steadfast love the people whom you have redeemed; you have guided them by your strength to your holy abode. 14The nations will hear and tremble; anguish will grip the people of Philistia (PHILISTINES – GOLIATH). 15The chiefs of Edom (uncle Esau – Jacob’s brother) will be terrified:

Deut 2:4Give the people these orders: ‘You are about to pass through the territory of your relatives the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir. They will be afraid of you, but be very careful. 5Do not provoke them to war, for I will not give you any of their land, not even enough to put your foot on. I have given Esau the hill country of Seir as his own. 6You are to pay them in silver for the food you eat and the water you drink.’ ”

the leaders of Moab (Lot’s descendants – Abraham’s nephew) will be seized with trembling,

Deut 2:9Then the Lord said to me, “Do not harass the Moabites or provoke them to war, for I will not give you any part of their land. I have given Ar to the descendants of Lot as a possession.”

BACK TO EX 16:15... all the inhabitants of Canaan have melted away. 16Terror and dread fall upon them; because of the greatness of your arm, they are still as a stone, till your people, O Lord, pass by, till the people pass by whom you have purchased. (MOSES IS SAYING THAT THE PEOPLE WHO INHABIT THE PROMISED LAND WILL HEAR ABOUT THIS AND BE TERRIFIED – Josh 2:8 RAHAB THE PROSTITUTE SPEAKING TO THE ISRAELITE SPIES 41 YEARS FROM NOW Before the men lay down, she came up to them on the roof 9and said to the men, “I know that the Lord has given you the land, and that the fear of you has fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land melt away before you. 10For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea before you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, to Sihon and Og, whom you devoted to destruction. 11And as soon as we heard it, our hearts melted, and there was no spirit left in any man because of you, for the Lord your God, he is God in the heavens above and on the earth beneath.) BACK TO THE SONG OF MOSES EX15:17 You will bring them ISRAEL in and plant them on your own mountain, the place, O Lord, which you have made for your abode, the sanctuary, O Lord, which your hands have established. 18 The Lord will reign forever and ever.” THE MOUNTAIN OF GOD IS ... WHEREVER GOD IS

19For when the horses of Pharaoh with his chariots and his horsemen went into the sea, the Lord brought back the waters of the sea upon them, but the people of Israel walked on dry ground in the midst of the sea. 20Then Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a tambourine in her hand, and all the women went out after her with tambourines and dancing. 21And Miriam sang to them: “Sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea.”

Bitter Water Made Sweet

22Then Moses made Israel set out from the Red Sea, and they went into the wilderness of Shur. They went three days in the wilderness and found no water. 23When they came to Marah, they could not drink the water of Marah because it was bitter; therefore it was named Marah (BITTER). 24And the people grumbled against Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?” MORE COMPLAINING 25And he cried to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a log, and he threw it into the water, and the water became sweet.

There the Lord made for them a statute and a rule, and there he tested them, 26saying, “If you will diligently listen to the voice of the Lord your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, your healer.” A WARNING! AND IF YOU DON’T OBEY … HE MAY PUT DISEASES ON HIS PEOPLE ...

27Then they came to Elim (GODS), where there were twelve springs of water and seventy palm trees, and they encamped there by the water. 12 TRIBES, 12 APOSTLES, 70 SENT FORTH BY JESUS … A CONNECTION BETWEEN THE EXODUS AND THE NEW TESTAMENT.
