Episode 22: Fall-ing forward: the messy art of letting go and the embodied practice of grieving
Release Date: 11/20/2022
Magical Humaning
In this episode, I’m inviting you into the quiet, often uncomfortable space of wintering—the season where clarity doesn’t come from pushing forward, but from slowing down enough to listen. We explore why the New Year’s pressure to plan, produce, and “figure it all out” can actually pull us out of alignment, and how our nervous systems cling to certainty—even when what’s familiar is no longer working. I share personal reflections on choosing stillness, releasing over-availability, and allowing old identities and patterns to gently die so something truer can emerge. This...

In this episode, I’m inviting you beneath the surface of burnout to explore what I call relational burnout—the deeper energetic and emotional patterns that quietly drain us long before we officially “hit the wall.” Together, we’ll trace burnout back to its true roots: the relationships that shape how we give, receive, and restore our energy. You’ll hear how this exploration unfolded for me while writing —and how it revealed not just my habits of overdoing, but the subtle ways I’d disconnected from myself in the name of being good, helpful, or strong. This conversation is an...

When you think of activism, what comes to mind? Protests? Petitions? Big, bold gestures of resistance? While those forms of activism are vital, there’s another revolution happening in quieter ways — in how we show up in our everyday lives. In this episode, we explore embodied activism — the idea that our healing, our relationships, and the way we move through the world can be one of the most powerful forms of collective change. Together, we’ll dive into: Why personal transformation isn’t selfish, but a ripple of impact that changes the collective. How the energy we carry in our...

Sometimes life moves in dog years—fast, wild, and packed with initiations. After a two-year pause, Magical Humaning is returning with a tender, truthy, all-the-feels catch-up on what’s unfolded, what cracked open, and what’s being created now. This episode is an honest look at living the “both/and”: seasons that were devastating and liberating, griefy and grace-filled—where endings and beginnings braided together. I share how I navigated a stretch that felt like a life-quake (think: relationship transitions, a scary car accident, unexpected opportunities, and the ongoing practice...

In this episode we’re continuing the journey of unpacking the 5 Human Design TYPES. As we explore these last three types, we share our own understandings of: *The Divine gifts (the unique magic!) of each type *The conditioned shadows (where culture can teach these types away from their authentic gifts) *The emotions to look for that can point to alignment AND misalignment (because “shoulds” can take us out of alignment pretty easily) *The aura of each (how the unique energy system of each type interacts with the world. . . and how it can feel to others)...

This week we’re officially diving into the Human Design pool, and I’m bringing my friend and radical magic collaborator Laura Cardwell along to play! In this episode: *We share our unique, yet similar, paths of resistance AND love of the Human Design realm. For both of us it was a push-pull experience. * We discuss the overwhelm that’s VERY common when starting the journey of learning about Human Design. . . and how we’ve navigated it ourselves. * We explore the embodiment aspect of deconditioning work and how we use this archetypal tool to play at the...

Life has a way of making sure we receive the lessons we NEED, and not just the lessons we WANT. It does this by showing us the same or similar patterns, people, and energies over and over again. . . sometimes even in different “costumes” and contexts. This episode is all about how to gracefully, curiously and compassionately navigate those cringey, uncomfortable and wound-y chapters of life that most of us would prefer to avoid. Here’s the good news: There ARE approaches that make them far easier, more healing, more empowering. . . and believe it or not,...

What does surrendered living really look like? How do we practice leaning into trust, even when it’s scary, painful, or kicks our wounds? What does it really feel like to choose a life of conscious deconditioning? How do we honor our very real nervous system responses to uncomfortable life experiences while still choosing alignment with empowering truth? What does it mean to “soften into our power?” What practices can we use to navigate the battle between our conditioned egos and Divine guidance? THESE are only some of the things Chris...

Our brains are designed to look for what's wrong, which often calls in more of that. Dominant culture has trained us to orient to a sense of scarcity, which creates limiting beliefs around what is and isn’t possible. But a central part of making real deal magic is training your brain to get beyond those things, to look for sparkly bits of synchronicity, kindness, support, abundance and MAGIC. . . every day. What we focus on inevitably starts to expand in our lives. Which is why I’m sharing the details of MY magic making practice! Tune in and get the...
info_outlineIt’s fall, y’all! Aaaaand, since we are part of nature, this season inevitably comes with all sorts of growth-inducing invitations to let go, grieve and courageously allow the changes that really want to happen for our highest good (trees drop leaves and we’re invited to drop things too, you know).
When we learn to allow this natural cycle of release to take place, taking compassionate and honest inventory of our lives and relationships we make space for new growth, more aligned possibilities and an overall greater sense of empowerment and lightness as we move through life.
In this episode:
*We explore the good-bad news that we don’t get to grow and expand without also learning to honor and embrace the necessary (and often messy, feely and illogical) grieving process
*I discuss how grief and letting go is far bigger than literal death of a person/ pet. Contrary to what we’re taught, grief happens when we let go of anything (externally or internally) that we’ve held close.
*We expand our understanding of HOW we experience grief - as it’s FAR more than thoughts and stories in the mind. Grief must move through the body.
*I share perspectives and practices to support you in releasing the things that are no longer serving and supporting you. . . because insight is great, but without aligned, empowering action we can stay stuck.
This is a season of radical compassion, brave honesty, and fierce love. It’s a time of doing the brave work of letting go, and then being really kind to ourselves and others as we navigate the messy alchemy.
It’s time to lighten your load, recalibrate your life and trust fall into your next chapter. . . because in order to invite in NEW magic, you must make space by clearing out OLD, outdated “stuff.”
