Dr. Robert Silverman, welcome to the show.

Dr. Rob, can you tell our listeners a little more about yourself and especially what led you to become the chiropractic physician and nutritionist that you are today?

Okay, Dr. Rob, When I was reading your book, what excited me the most was how well you explain in such a straight forward way the fact that true health and healing really does require an inside - out approach: Eating well, digesting properly, exercise just to name a few of the key areas you cover.  Meanwhile, the majority of people and medical treatments continue to focus on an outside – in approaches to health, such as more drugs, procedures and surgeries which do not actually promote any of our bodies natural healing processes.  In fact this conventional outside – in approach has led to more chronic disease than we ever have had at any point in the history of mankind! Therefore I am so excited for you to share some of this great knowledge with our listeners today!

When I am working with patients in our nutritional wellness program I often talk about the importance of fixing the gut first.  I love the fact that the very first chapter in your book is titled, It’s all about your gut”.  Can you explain to our listeners why the gut is so important and how it impacts our overall health & well-being?

Another topic that you explain so well is inflammation.  It seems like every day more and more research is coming out that shows just how damaging excessive inflammation can be.  In fact most chronic degenerative conditions seemed linked with excessive inflammation.  What are some of the most important facts about inflammation that most people do not know? And, how does our gut health factor in to this discussion?

You also do a fantastic job of explaining how muscle pain, bone pain and joint pain are not only affected by inflammation but in many circumstances are a direct result of increased inflammation.  Have you ever seen a chronic pain patient that did not have an issue with gut related inflammation?

Let’s shift our focus for a minute to Toxins.  I often reference the Metagenics study from a few years ago that determined the average person is exposed to well over 200 toxins by the time he or she arrives at work each and every day.  Now, you have been giving continuing education lectures to us doctors for years about toxins and on things we and our patients need to do to mitigate the damaging effects toxins.  What are some of the best actionable steps that our listeners can take to bolster their own detoxification abilities?

What about prevention?  Are there some simple steps people can take to significantly decrease the amount of toxins they encounter on a daily basis?

Let’s jump into one more topic.  You and I both see a number of athletes that come in with a wide variety of sports related injuries.  You talk in detail about the importance of properly evaluating HOW one moves throughout their course of chiropractic care for their injury.  All too often we see the following scenario; life gets busy and an athlete wants to discontinue their care as soon as their pain is resolved, however, they haven’t put in the proper time to re-educate their body on restoring proper pre-injury movement patterns.  Then, two, three or ten months later they come in with a new injury that we can easily see was related to their previous injury. Can you expand on this topic for our listeners so they may be able to better understand WHY they develop alternative movement patterns after an injury why those patterns are not likely get better on their own?

In addition to your book, which we will have a link to in our show notes, are there any other resources that you would recommend to our listeners to learn more about some of the things we talked about today?

As we get ready to wrap up, I have two final questions:

Do you have any final words of wisdom for our listeners and HOW can we CONNECT WITH YOU?

Folks, I will put a link to each of the ways to connect with Dr. Rob  in our show notes page @ www.backtohealthchiropractic.com
