Mental Health In The Black Community; Lets Talk!

Beyond The Lens

Release Date: 01/13/2021

Why are Black people disproportionality over-represented within mental health institutes in the UK? For an issue that affects us so greatly we are still struggling to talk about it. From being classified as educationally subnormal in the 70’s to present day risks of cannabis induced psychosis, there are clearly some issues that need to be talked about, understood and overcome. In this episode Nola, Sherée and Naila discuss the hidden stories of many black individuals, “the stigma” and privacy, education and much more.
