Today’s episode was one of my favourites to record – for the first time, we took on location, and I was lucky enough to spend the most blissful morning walking, listening, learning, swimming and sharing breakfast at the rugged Cornish coast with seaweed artist Julia Bird. Julia co-founded with fellow artist and friend Melanie Molesworth back in 2018, translating their mutual love for art and the ocean into a business, hand-pressing seaweed that they forage from the shores of their local beaches – Julia in Cornwall, and Melanie in Dorset. From the original prints...

info_outlineFor Episode 6 I welcome to the breakfast table Amanda Winwood of sustainable skincare company Made for Life Organics.Amanda took up the reins of Made for Life Organics (which was formerly called Spiezia) almost 20 years ago, and during that time has been constantly evolving the business to make it as sustainable as possible - from using 100% organic ingredients through to becoming a BCorp three years ago, and they have just won a Best for the World award for their work within the community.I found this conversation a fascinating dive into the impact of skincare products not only on our own bodies, but on the people growing, creating and supplying them, and on the environment; how often do we think through the implications for soil, biodiversity and waterways of using non-organic skincare products where plants that are used as ingredients are sprayed with chemicals? As a trained holistic therapist – in massage, reiki, mindfulness and Forest Bathing amongst other qualifications – and having spent years working within the Spa industry, Amanda discusses the importance of self-care for those working within as therapists; the Cancer Touch Therapy training programme that she has developed through the Made for Life Foundation, upskilling therapists to treat people with cancer; and the value of simplicity in seeking to live more sustainably.Do join us in conversation over a simple summer breakfast, and check out the podcast web page where you will find more information about Made for Life Organics, recipes from the breakfast table and behind-the-scenes photos from our conversation: www.tiatamblyn.com/podcastI’d love to know your thoughts, do join the conversation, email me [email protected] or message via Instagram @breakfast_and_beyondPlease do subscribe to the podcast, rate and review on Apple Podcasts, and I’d be delighted if you’re able to share this episode with friends and family who would enjoy it – thank you so much!
