info_outlineAlex Brown graduated in 2013 with a civil engineering degree. Since then, he's had a few different roles at his company.
Turns out he wasn't necessarily a good engineer. So he got more into construction management because he felt more connected to it. He knew he needed to find a different path.
And now he uses his technical skills, combined with soft skills to teach other engineers. And it's a great fit!
Alex wants us to know: "You have to find your seat on the bus."

More about Alex:
Alex is a Product Champion at Vulcraft, which is a division of Nucor Steel. Vulcraft is North America’s largest producer of open web steel joist and metal decking. Alex learned about Vulcraft in the IIT class CAE 472 where the local sales manager is a guest lecturer every year. Alex was hired as a part-time intern while finishing his final semester. Shortly after graduating, he was hired as a Sales Engineer, based in the local sales office as the technical expert. In early 2022, he moved into a new role of Product Champion focused on developing new business opportunities for Vulcraft product to be specified. Alex is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Indiana. He holds an Master of Business Administration from Aurora University and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology. This upcoming March 2023, Alex will return to CAE 472 for his 9th year of presenting the guest lecture on Vulcraft joist and deck.
