He played 13 seasons with Major League Baseball's Los Angeles Dodgers, who chose him in the first round of the amateur draft. He appeared in a combined total of close to 1,500 regular season and playoff games combined, winning two World Series and being a two-time All-Star -- all of this coming in a Dodger uniform. He went on to 19 seasons as manager of the Angels, winning the World Series in 2002 and twice being named American League Manager of the Year.  He was also the manager for the U.S. Olympic baseball team that took home the silver medals at the Summer Games in 2021 in Tokyo....
