Cincinnati Soccer Talk

The last time Hell descended upon Ohio, the Crew scored the vital home win over a Cincinnati squad with a shoddy away form. This time around, Columbus comes back to the scene of their harshest derby defeat. Both Ohio-based teams are struggling to make the MLS Cup playoffs again. However, while FC Cincinnati is struggling, Columbus might be peaking at the right time. The offense has been burning fuel at an impressive pace, but can they go full throttle without risking combustion in the defending half? We talk with , former beat writer for the Columbus Dispatch and founder of The Disrespected,...

Cincinnati Soccer Talk

A win over Atlanta United is one thing, but the competition threatens to remain fierce on the way to the MLS Cup playoffs. Cincinnati hit a major reality checkpoint earlier this season against the New England Revolution, so the second leg should be a good measuring stick for the rest of the season. The Revs have been consistent in their quest to return to the postseason, but a pair of 3-0 losses seem to have derailed their momentum. Perhaps there is a weakness in the New England armor after all? We sit down with from to look closer at the minute changes made to this Revolution squad. Have...

Cincinnati Soccer Talk

The sprint to the MLS Cup playoffs kicks back into full gear in a similar way the regular season started. FC Cincinnati began the 2026 voyage with a win over Atlanta United. However, since that first step, both teams have been struggling to match standards that made them past behemoths. The Cincinnati defense has been a constant concern with unproven methods. Meanwhile, Atlanta United have thrown the kitchen sink on offense with little to show. However, the summer transfer window might provide answers now that all the pieces are in play. We talk with , former writer for the Atlanta...

Cincinnati Soccer Talk

The international window is upon us, an event that takes a second meaning this weekend. While the USMNT take on the Canadian national team in a few weeks, FC Cincinnati cross the northern border for their own international dialogue with CF Montreal on Saturday. The team formerly known as the Impact have been floundering through another managerial change. However, Montreal still gave Cincinnati a scare in March, scoring three and forcing Cincinnati down to 10 men. While the Orange & Blue got the last laugh, it's perhaps not so humorous with both teams struggling the moment. We bring back ...

Cincinnati Soccer Talk

FC Cincinnati has lived and died by the lower goal differential in the past. Although the team had tight margins, the Orange & Blue had often finished with the three points. This season, the West seems to have their own situation where a low-differential team is lurking toward the top of the table, and they sport their own shade of orange. Cincinnati travel to Houston to take on the Dynamo and face their final Western Conference foe for the year. True, the Dynamo offense has been relatively sparse compared to other teams, sporting a +4 differential. However, the defense has kept the door...

Cincinnati Soccer Talk

It's been a lousy time to collide with the best teams in the Eastern Conference this season. FC Cincinnati were given some bad servings of humble pie in Nashville and Philadelphia. At least home cooking should make the sour taste go away? Not so fast, my friend. Charlotte FC have owned the Queen City since 2024, winning the last two times at TQL Stadium. While both teams will be missing some important pieces as they chase the top of the conference, this six-pointer matchup will be important for any playoff runs. We bring in from to give us his perspective on a Charlotte team that needed...

The highs and lows from the past week indicate that there is a lot to polish on this FC Cincinnati squad before the Leagues Cup. Much can be said about "highs" and "lows" describing the last time the Orange & Blue clashed against this week's opponent, the San Jose Earthquakes.

Back in 2024, Cincinnati pulled off an incredible come-from-behind effort at San Jose, riding a Yuya Kubo hat trick off the bench. However, that was the last match with Matt Miazga, who was lost for the season due to a knee injury.

Since then, the Quakes have retooled the front office, and that influx of positivity has been felt in the roster. 2025 was a bounce-back season for San Jose behind Bruce Arena, and 2026 has started with just as much momentum, despite an injury list that has taken vital spots off the roster.

We ask Abram from Tectonic Takes to give us his opinion on San Jose's drastic change to the attack and the recharge of youth in the lineup. How different will this result be from the last time the Quakes came to TQL?
