The Freedom Of Not Believing Every Thought show art The Freedom Of Not Believing Every Thought

Liz Scott

Did you know that thoughts are naturally neutral until we give them energy? In today’s 5 Minutes in Nature, Liz compares thoughts to leaves drifting down a river. If we simply watch them float by, they pass without impact. But the moment we pick a leaf—the thought—out of the river, we start to believe it’s true. It’s liberating to realise: you don’t have to believe every thought that pops up during your day. Let them drift, and they will naturally move on. ******** If you've enjoyed this taster then join me, Liz Scott, on Insight Timer. Each day on  , I share 5 Minutes in...

Are you someone who clings tightly to your goals? Or perhaps you lean the other way, moving through life guided by spontaneity. Lately, the universe has been inviting her to practice flexibility. Ultimately, she’s discovering that the real compass lies within. The Balance We’ve Lost — and the Women Rising to Restore It show art The Balance We’ve Lost — and the Women Rising to Restore It

Liz Scott

What happens when masculine and feminine energies fall out of balance in our world? As Liz reflects on the strength and wisdom of older women, she notices how often they retreat instead of stepping forward into their power. Earlier this year, during a pilgrimage along the Michael and Mary energy lines in the UK, she witnessed firsthand how these two currents symbolize the harmony that comes from balance. It’s a lesson that has stayed with her — and one she’s inspired to explore more deeply. ******** If you've enjoyed this taster then join me, Liz Scott, on Insight Timer. Each day...

Liz Scott

If you find yourself caught up in restless or anxious thoughts, imagine them as an over-excited puppy. In today’s 5 Minutes In Nature, Liz shares a story about visiting a lively puppy that became even more jumpy and nippy the more attention it received. The calmer the visitor became, the more the puppy settled. Our unsettled thoughts work much the same way—when we stop feeding them with attention, they naturally quiet down on their own. ******** If you've enjoyed this taster then join me, Liz Scott, on Insight Timer. Watching your child becoming immersed in mental distress can be so frightening for parents. What can you do? How can you best support them?

In this podcast Liz Scott speaks to someone who regularly engages with young people and parents. Marie Arymar gives an overview of how to assess the situation with a young person. During this conversation Liz and Marie discuss 7 ways to support the child. Here is a run down of the points they discuss:

1.  Listen deeply. Don't try to fix them or rationalise. Just listen.
2. Love them unconditionally even if their behaviour is mean or nasty.
3. Remember your beautiful child is still there - celebrate the moments of connection
4. Boundaries are important. Young people feel safe when they know the expectations.
5. As parents, keep communicating. Back each other up and support one another.
6. What if I'm separated from the other parent? Find a way to speak to each other. Consider how to put your differences aside to ensure you can both support the child.
7. Know 'this will pass' - it might be frightening to feel you're losing the child you once knew. Trust this will pass.

It's also so important to look after yourself and to realise that you're doing a good job (even if it doesn't always feel that way).
