Fresh off a victory for one of her people, she comes to us with undocumented student activist Flor Reyes, one of the DREAMERS (she shares her incredible story at 30:00). We share stories about struggling to pass the DREAM act (6:00), being disenfranchised due to possible voter fraud in the Bernie/Hillary primary (9:40), the fear of taking action and of people taking action (17:40), helping recently released prisoners get jobs (46:00), and the desperate measures people take to survive poverty (i.e. HIV bug chasers) (21:50). We also discuss where apathy and distrust of the government and political participation comes from (42.14) and mass incarceration (45:05).
