I happen to think the band, and Garcia, shows a real rebound here and hope you agree. As we roll into February this week's Deadpod comes from the second night of the Mardi Gras run of 1990. I think the boys are in good spirits here and we have some nice treats here in set one, with more to follow in next week's second set. The recording starts with Joan Baez regaling Mickey with a 'Happy Birthday' chorus.. once we put that behind us we are led into a hot 'Minglewood' and then a quite nice 'They Love Each Other'.
They amp it up a bit with a 'Mama Tried>Mexicali' then Jerry brings out 'Candyman', which leads into a 'Little Red Rooster'.
