Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us.

This meditation is designed to experience, embrace, and practice mindfulness.

When we are mindful, our mind is fully attending to what is happening, to what we are doing.

The benefits of mindfulness include:

  • Higher brain functioning
  • A sense of well-being.
  • Increased immune function
  • Lowered blood pressure
  • Lowered heart rate
  • Increased awareness
  • Increased clarity in thinking and perception
  • Lowered anxiety levels
  • Experience of being calm and internally still
  • Experience of feeling connected
  • Self Compassion

As with meditation, mindfulness is in our control.  Take a few minutes to in take part in this meditation which is actually an activity for my Chart for Compassion course, entitled "Cultivating Compassion through Travel."
