info_outlineWhen Anne Champagne crossed the finish line at the Spartan Stoneham Ultra Beast she made history. Not only did Champagne win the race for women she beat all the men by over 45 minutes. I checked with Spartan HQ to confirm my suspicion that Anne was the first woman in the race company history to outright win an Ultra Beast. Spartan confirmed that she was the first women to ever accomplish this feat and that only one other time in the companies history had a woman outright won a Spartan of any distance but that race was not an Ultra Beast according to Spartan HQ.
Champagne joins the podcast to talk about the race, how she feels making Spartan history, and a little bit about her life, training and more. Champagne joined me via a Skype call from her home in Quebec, Canada to talk about it all just days after she won the race. Champagne has been an obstacle course racer for years and frequently finds herself on podiums in both Canada and the United States.
