The Felix Comic Art Podcast returns for a special two part episode! In part one, we're honored to welcome legendary collector Bill Woo for his first ever appearance on our show...or any show! In the '90s and 2000s, Bill put together one of the greatest collections of original art the comics world has ever seen. Then in the 2010s, he broke it apart. Completely. Selling nearly every single piece. That usually marks the end of one's collecting journey...but Bill is back. With a vengeance. What brought him back? Does he believe he can build a new collection like his old one? Bill's rise, fall,...

Can comic art be considered "fine art"? Does comic art have a place in museums? Where does comic art fit in the wider art world? My guest for this episode is long-time museum curator, and comics fan/collector, Fabrice Stroun. Listen as he shares his thoughts on the above, as well as on The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, on how he views modern comic art, and a whole lot more. We're back with three of the most respected longtime collectors in the hobby: Stephen Ferzoco, Gene Park, and David Mandel! Who also happen to be three of the most popular guests we've had on the show! All three are here to share their stories of "The Quest". Ranging from a single page...to trying to complete an entire issue. Not all have been successful (yet), but lots for the rest of us to learn, either way. Listeners love the collecting stories, and here are three all-timers. Thanks to Steve, Gene, and David for sharing! Enjoy!

It's been a while but we make up for it with a two-parter! We kick things off with our annual catchup from San Diego Comic-Con with Heritage Auctions head honcho, Jim Halperin. There's arguably no one more important to the original art market than Jim, and there are few in his position who are as open. The NEW MUTANTS #98 cover, the new increased buyer's premium, the future of the hobby, and more! We touch on it all! Thanks Jim! In part two, we pay a return visit to longtime collector, Richard Martines, on his home turf of Oahu. We dig into the alleged private sale of a DARK KNIGHT RETURNS...

If a fire is threatening your collection, what pieces do you save? How do you make impossible choices in an instant? Hopefully you'll never have to face this collector's nightmare. But David Mandel did. Yes, we bring Dave back on the show one month after the LA fires. Hear what he did, what he saved first, and what he's learned from the experience. It's an edge-of-your-seat account with perhaps the world's greatest collection of original comic art and movie props at stake...thanks for enduring PTSD for our listeners, Dave! Plus, Daniel Warren Johnson joins us in a lighter discussion...

Just four days after our first episode of 2025, we're back with our second! It's another 100% art-centric chat...thanks for listening, enjoy!

The first episode of 2025 has arrived! And it's a spicy one! On location at OAX (Original Art Expo) in Orlando, FL, we welcome back popular guests Gene Park, Andy Robbins, and Yo Kuri for a roundtable discussion on OAX and the state of the hobby. But right before we were about to record, Gene and long-time supercollector Tom Coker pulled off what may be the biggest blockbuster trade this hobby has ever seen. So of course we had to rope Tom in, too! Hear it all now! Thanks and enjoy!

Our art drop for Nick Dragotta's ABSOLUTE BATMAN #1 last month set an absolute record for a modern comic...and shook the hobby to its core. Now, hear how it all went down, with two collectors who were there: Chris Killackey and Brant Boersma. Was it all folly, foolishness, FOMO? Or just another Felix drop? Listen and decide for yourselves! Thanks to Chris and Brant for risking ridicule and sharing their thoughts! Enjoy!

SDCC is the greatest spectacle in comics fandom. The Felix Comic Art Podcast is...a podcast about original comic art. But we're at SDCC! And we're bringing you a new episode! First up is Jim Halperin, co-founder and co-chairman of Heritage Auctions. It's his third time with us, and as before, he answers every question. He shies away from nothing. Pretty damn impressive for the most important man in the comic art market! Thanks, Jim! But there's more! We also bring back past favorite guests for an impromptu chat about oddball art we're all hoping to find. All tips on locating anything we talk...
info_outline The Felix Comic Art Podcast returns for June 2021 with a special guest: Pixar animator and art collector, Andy Beall.
Andy is a veteran animator who got his start on the beloved classic, THE IRON GIANT. He was then recruited by the Charles Schulz estate to direct the PEANUTS special, HAPPINESS IS A WARM BLANKET, CHARLIE BROWN, as well as write and draw the original comic THE BEAGLE HAS LANDED, CHARLIE BROWN! But the bulk of his career has been at Pixar, where he was worked on countless favorites, starting with THE INCREDIBLES..
Besides being a guest on the show, though, Andy has done something special for fans and collectors: He has created a series of drawings featuring all of the iconic characters he’s been associated with. Including an absolutely gorgeous cover-quality piece for THE IRON GIANT. All of these will be available soon. But even more impressively, Andy has donated all of this art to benefit our charity, the Lu Family Fund. 100% of all proceeds from this sale will support cancer patients and their families via our fund. My gratitude to Andy for his incredible generosity. Please sign up for the newsletter on our site at www.felixcomicart.com to get all the details. Again, we will be making the drop announcement soon.
Oh, and here’s a spoiler: Andy is one of the most prolific commenters on Comic Art Fans. If you don’t recognize his name, it’s because he posts under the pseudonym, “Kent Mansley”. If you have a CAF gallery, then you probably have a comment from Kent Mansley on one of your pieces. Whether he goes by Andy or Kent, I’m proud to call him a friend. Thank you, Andy!
BONUS: For those of you who missed my talk with TRADD MOORE at Comic Art LIVE! a few months ago, we've added it at the end so you can enjoy this VERY rare appearance by Tradd! And as an added bonus, we close out this episode with a chat I had with CAF's Bill Cox! Our longest episode to date, enjoy!
