Christmas greeting for Christians and Buddhists by Yogi Horst R. Brumm
In Japanese Amida Buddhism and Amitabha Buddhism of the Tibetan tradition, you do not have to practice everything all the time, but focus the mind on a certain point of view and connection, so that ultimately the same result as with the gradual path will arise. This is similar in structure to the devotion to the Virgin Mary of the Catholic Church or the devoted prayers of Christians in general to Jesus.
When evangelical Christians come to the German Buddhist Institute Karma Tengyal Ling, I try to reinforce their Christian beliefs and tell them to pray to Jesus from the bottom of their hearts. If you pray to God, you will always have problems because God cannot be concretized for anyone and you have nothing to base yourself on. Mary is added for Catholics.
So if Christians ask for blessings and support at the moment of death, then the Christian aspects of Jesus or Mary can also lead to people being liberated and not being reborn in the lower realms of life.
It also works, but it has nothing to do with belief. I am firmly convinced of that.
For me personally, it follows from the Gospel of Thomas (which is not in the Bible) and the first 4 books of the New Testament in which Jesus himself speaks, that Jesus was a meditation master. I even assume that he expressed Vajrajana teachings and was a Vajra master with Vajra disciples, but unfortunately they were not capable students.
In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said: "I'm just talking to you." So this sermon was not intended for the congregation in the church, but for Jesus' direct pupils, who today would theoretically be the priests and pastors, bishops and cardinals.
This shows that Jesus himself was not a believer. In my opinion, this is how it all came about - the disciple Peter became God's and Jesus' representative on earth, a person who had not understood Jesus. Just as we experience today that so-called Buddhists alter the teachings so that they meet their own needs.
My experience has shown me that wisdom is preserved in the texts if a person has given real wisdom in the past, even if this has been translated across several languages. The statements from a real person can be translated very often, but the common thread of basic wisdom remains.
Sincerely and with my very best wishes for Christmas and the new year, yours Yogi Horst R Brumm
