Makeover Montage: A Fashion in Film Podcast
Feed me, Seymour! We’re diving into Little Shop of Horrors, the 1986 musical comedy about a sentient plant that’s hungry for human blood. This pick comes courtesy of Blaire, a self-proclaimed "musical hater" with one major exception: this cult classic. Marit Allen (Eyes Wide Shut, Brokeback Mountain, The Witches) was the costume designer behind these fun '80s-does-50s/60s' looks, and we quickly see similarities between some costumes in this and another movie she designed, Mermaids. From Audrey’s leopard print wiggle dress to Seymour’s dork-chic plaids, we have a grand old time...

info_outline Baby Bangs and Funky Florals In Scream 3 (2000)Makeover Montage: A Fashion in Film Podcast
"All I know about trilogies is that in the third one, all bets are off.” It may be the most controversial and hated of the franchise, but we love the campy, extremely meta Scream 3! Costume designer Abigail Murray gives us some super fun, highly underrated looks in the "Ghostface Goes Hollywood" third installment of the film series. We get into Sidney’s (Neve Campbell) relaxed final girl style and accessory ode to her dead ex, Parker Posey as the hilarious, stylish, cool-girl Jennifer Jolie, and, of course, Gale’s (Courtney Cox) bangs! There is evil out there, and I'm gonna kick its ass! We’ve got a late ‘90s Halloween movie for y’all — Idle Hands! The one has a rare issue; there wasn’t a costume designer credit, but a kickass wardrobe department still put the cast in fun 'fits. We get into the [Devon] Sawassance and discuss his underrated, incredible performance in this movie. Hello, that hand acting? Oscar-worthy. We love you, Devon! info_outlineY’all come back now, ya hear? In The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas movie musical, Dolly Parton is Miss Mona, the madam of the local Chicken Ranch, a historic and beloved brothel in a small Texas town. Sheriff Ed Earl (Burt Reynolds) helps out Miss Mona by looking out for the brothel, but the duo runs into trouble when TV personality Melvin Thorpe tries to expose the ranch. Dolly's outfits are a serious boudoir chic feast for the eyes, with ruffles, lace, feathers, sequins, and floor-length “ringmaster red” garments, costumed by the late, great Theodora Van Runkle (Troop Beverly Hills).
As usual, we break down our favorite looks but also discuss Burt Reynold’s hunkdom (and how we’d cast Pedro Pascal in his role for our imaginary remake). There’s also chisme about Dolly and Burt hating each other during filming, so Blaire has a request for Ryan Murphy: to make the next installment of Feud be about their drama!
