However, just to the north, Muhammad's friend and ally, Peter I of Castile, would be engaged in a series of wars that would affect nearly all the major contestants of Western Europe. While Granada enjoyed prosperity, Castile would be consumed by a massive civil war that would bring about a new dynasty. One that was destined to impact not just the politics of the Iberian peninsula, but the whole world.
