Xbox Dominates PS5 Charts, Grand Strategy Returns, and Nostalgia Hits High Gear

This week's gaming landscape sees intriguing shifts and anticipated returns, as discussed on the latest GameBurst Podcast. In a surprising turn, all of last month's best-selling titles on Sony's PS5 were published by rival Xbox, further blurring console battle lines. Paradox Interactive has officially lifted the veil on 'Project Caesar', confirming widespread speculation that it is indeed Europa Universalis 5, heralding what the developers are calling a "new era for grand strategy." Meanwhile, Rockstar's GTA 6 trailer has shattered records, becoming the biggest video launch of all time and surpassing even Hollywood behemoths like Deadpool and Wolverine, despite a potential release pushed to 2026.  

Subscribers to Xbox Game Pass can look forward to a robust May, with a fresh wave of titles including day-one releases such as Doom: The Dark Ages and Revenge of the Savage Planet. Fans of historical action have cause for celebration too, as the highly anticipated sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, titled Ghost of Yōtei, is set to launch on October 2, 2025, nearly five years after the original. Finally, a dose of 90s nostalgia is incoming with Crystal Dynamics' cult classic Gex and its two sequels being bundled for a multi-platform release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and PC on June 16th. #gameburst
