Hank Watson's Garage Hour - Cars, Trucks, Beers & Guns
We're all doing it right now - eyeballing the spare boiler in the driveway that you may or may not need (probably not, if you're any sort of geek), wondering if there's some solid cash to be had if you just did a leeeeettle work. Well, the Gearhead Consultancy at the Garage Hour has done this before (a LOT), and we can help you get to done. What's a must-do and what can you explain away? Does the Check Engine Light mean buy a new sensor or buy a $20 code-reader? How do you move from attracting a shopper to making them a buyer? Are you ready to pounce when Mr....

It's time: spring is sprunged and your want your hooptie to be set for stunning - the Garage Hour can help. This episode is always a hoot, because there's so much info to relay that there's never enough time - knowing (and caring for your) your car care chemicals (including temperature management) as well as your tools (buckets, towels and mitts), how and when (and where) to apply the right stuff, be it carnauba, a polish (or not to polish), or the clayyyyy, how to apply the water you're using, a bit of brand knowledge, and indispensable background information you can lean on from...

Some serious stuff lands better with humor, so help yuck up some doom and gloom with the Garage Hour gearheads. We've got the potential peril of cars made in China (everything from unactuated robot cars and vampire technology to dangerously chintzy products and blatant trademark infringement) and the real-life lessons you and we can learn from the rinse-and-repeat episodes of Tiger Woods' DUIs (let the celeb make the mistake for you). From there, there's some thought development on a schism developing in the used car market (new and old - divergent, but why?), and a reminder that...

The Garage Hour: ignoring life's biggest questions because gearhead (or racecar - you choose). We've got everything in this one: why lift your car when you could buy a truck; why the Concorde's awesomeness was so early we missed it; why Volkswagen is building missiles for Israel (mis-Israel?) (and why Ford, GM, AM General and 100 other good manufacturers did the same); why the FTC is eyeballing car sellers, why the cooling needs of AI and data centers will make your brain hurt (and drive their neighbors crazy); why more automakers are not making electric cars; and why so many car...

Time for an hour of Black Forest Excellence at Dan's Burrito & Taco Emporium... With enough beer in us to speak Jeep (many F.I.A.T. jokes, plus tonned and LS'd), the Gearhead Consultancy got together in the deep dark woods to chat out the things that matter: 1UZ oil pans, JFS4, Bud Light (back when chainsaws were still funny), tire pressure, heat cycling, expensive brake pads, and keeping the leafs from bonking the frame (of a 4Runner?). There's also Fat Foot Syndrome versus heel-and-toe, rollover Exploders versus the '99 4Runner, and the value of expensive brake pads. Meanwhile, back at...

info_outlineGearheads do things and make stuff because they're doers at heart. Just add tools and bolts and wires and parts (it's all ball bearings anyway) and fixing happens, no matter where we're pointed. Make your house happy and point yourself at some walls and ceilings for an hour - it's more fun with wiring. What's more: multimeters, wire nuts, 10-minute crashing guitar murder, dikes and strippers, and blaming hippies. For fun: massive blackouts in first-world countries show they can't even subsist at third-world levels, laws to protect 'froaders, campers, bikers and hikers from wolves, and a little ditty about making your kids gun-safe instead of making your house crime-friendly.

More in there (because space metal): Masters of Reality, Failure, Monster Magnet, Farflung, Kyuss, Snail, Man or Astro Man, Orange Goblin, Clutch, The Sword, Soundgarden, the wonderful McRib, and a peachy wheat sip (and some tales) from Breckenridge Brewery.
