info_outlineWhat do we know about Mary Magdalene:
- She was healed by Jesus because she was demon possessed.
“and also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and sicknesses: Mary, called Magdalene (seven demons had come out of her);”Luke 8:2 CSB
- She supported the work of Christ
“Afterward he was traveling from one town and village to another, preaching and telling the good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve were with him,”
Luke 8:1 CSB
- She was at the cross when Jesus was killed
“Many women who had followed Jesus from Galilee and looked after him were there, watching from a distance. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of Zebedee’s sons.”
Matthew 27:55-56 CSB
- She saw Jesus laid in the tomb
“Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were seated there, facing the tomb.”
Matthew 27:61 CSB
- She was the first to experience the resurrection
“Early on the first day of the week, after he had risen, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had driven seven demons.”
Mark 16:9 CSB
.
“Just then Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” They came up, took hold of his feet, and worshiped him. Then Jesus told them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to leave for Galilee, and they will see me there.””
Matthew 28:9-10
.
So her faith had to be on fire. She witnessed both the death and resurrection of Christ.
.
What we learn from Mary Magdalene:
We are to support the work of Christ. Women should have a role in ministry and sharing the gospel.
We can witness the gospel by spending time with Jesus.
We can watch from the distance of our laps as we read His Word.
We can see that evidence of His resurrection in the Holy Spirit that he has left for us.
We can wait patiently at the foot and worship as we wait to see Him on that glorious day.
