Part 1 of Palestine and the World: History in a Time of Genocide (Denial) examines the premodern paradigms of Latin Christendom's relationship to Jews and Muslims, Judaism and Islam, over centuries since the time of the Crusades and the establishment of the Latin Crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem. Dr. Ariel Salzmann and Adnan discuss a Mediterranean history from the medieval crusades to the "Reconquista" in Iberia into the early modern period and reflect on the transformation in the Latin West from religious difference between Christian and non-Christian as predominant to the elaboration of new ethno-racial forms of exclusion in the shared roots of antisemitism, Islamophobia and other forms of racism.
