Hail Satire! with Vic Shuttee

2022 was the beginning of the grand return to normalcy in many ways, and for comedy: there was a lot to look at and even more we missed. Plus, we pour one out to the big comic icons lost in 2022 including Bob Saget and Gilbert Gottfried, and talk about the contraversies that most blew our mind - Kenan vs Chris Redd, Will Smith's slapgate...

Hail Satire! with Vic Shuttee

2021 was... more of the same, wasn't it? Sure, there was a vaccine - but from the mindset of creating comedy, we're still in a pandemic, live performance is a risky venture and all creativity seems to flow from a slimming few mega corporations. So, was there anything of value that slipped through the cracks. Vic is back with his favorite podcasting pal Chandler Dean to run through the gamut of comedy output for the past year: what films broke through a shrinking window? What TV stuck the landing in the end, was axed too soon, or started strong enough to warrant attention? Whatever happened to...

2020 was an unquestionable nightmare for reasons beyond the purview of comedy... but this year of COVID will undeniably have long lasting implications on the world of entertainment for years to come. From the meager comedy films that trickled out in the theatres and on "Premium VOD"  - looks like Bad Boys for Life was movie of the year, right? Late night shows went home and reunions from Parks and Rec, 30 Rock and more were filmed by family members. Some of the comedy's biggest legends passed away including Carl Reiner, Jerry Stiller, Fred Willard and Buck Henry... while other shows hit milestones and streaming became a lot more important. Plus a year of social upheaval brought to light bold new comic voices like Amber Ruffin, Sarah Cooper and shined a light on reliable ol' favorite like Sasha Baron Cohen and Jerry Seinfeld. Joining the year end wrap up in one of Vic's oldest friend, funny person and newly minted author of ECHOHEAD, Tommy Waas! Originally recorded December 28, 2020. Hail Satire! is hosted and produced by Vic Shuttee.
