info_outlineHi, I’m Paul here with today’s reminder.
Isaiah 9 verse 2 gives us this beautiful promise: “The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine.”
Promises like these were given in the Old Testament but then God stopped speaking through the prophets for 400 years. It was a time of silence and darkness; a time where the people thought God had abandoned them and that he wouldn’t keep his promise to save them.
But the truth was God wasn’t pulling away, he was moving, drawing closer, working, preparing the world for Jesus to bring hope and salvation and light to the dark and weary world.
In the same way do you feel like God is far from you? Do you find yourself walking in darkness? Are your troubles deep and overwhelming? Are you tired of struggling?
If so remember that Jesus still offers hope, he still saves, he still carries your burdens, he still is a bright light to lead you out of the darkness.
Trust Jesus to save you from your sin, lay the troubles you carry at his feet, follow him, pray, read his word, live out his teachings and be filled with hope this Christmas.
Let me pray for you:
Father,
In the darkest hour you send your brightest blessings. Thank you for the hope we have in Jesus. Our sin and the troubles of this world are no match for the grace, compassion and love we find in him.
Let us never forget this truth.
In Jesus name, amen.
