Hello and welcome to the Executive Commute, I recently sat down to talk with Lance Mortlock. Lance is a senior strategy consultant with Ernst & Young and he has worked with over 60 organizations in 11 countries over his career that has spanned over 20 years. He has studied at Stanford, MIT, Harvard and INSEAD and he specializes in helping companies become disaster proof. Which is also the name of his new book titled Disaster Proof - Scenario Planning for a Post-Pandemic World.

In part one of this interview, Lance told us about a critical turning point in his life when one of his teachers told him he’d never make anything in his life. He chose to use that as an activation point which led him into being a highly in demand strategic partner around the world. Lance shared what scenario planning is and the mental traps that put your organization at risk.

Thanks for listening to part 1. Check out part 2 next where Lance talked about the desirability bias, how good scenarios fail, and his biggest success helping an organization respond to an unforeseeable event.
