New Wave Leadership Podcast
This week, I'm wrapping up season 9 (!) by sharing my conversation with Isha Vela. In their work as a trauma psychologist and embodied leadership coach (among other things), Isha offers sovereign business coaching to revolutionaries and witchy disruptors. Their centering passions are intimacy and embodiment from a systemic, social justice lens. They also felt like the perfect person to cap off this season of the podcast. Together, we chatted all about: Their internal evolution from mother phase to crone phase The shift (both personally and collectively) from doing to being Leaders as...

This week, I want to spend some time discussing a concept that sounds simple on the surface, but is actually pretty complex: setting yourself up for success. I'm specifically going to address this from a leadership perspective, because that comes with its own unique challenges. Setting yourself up for success can be tough to sequence when: You are holding other people accountable You're responsible for team outcomes, metrics, and deliverables You have to consider the bigger picture of an organization — or, for my entrepreneurs out there, you are the one who holds the vision of your business...

I hope you're all ready for a deep one today, because I've really been looking forward to sharing this conversation with all of you. On this week's episode, I spoke with Anuradha Kowtha. Anuradha runs the Kowtha Constellation, where they help small business owners build ethical, accessible, and inclusive practices into their systems, all with the goal of sustainable growth. I truly appreciated Anuradha's deep, thoughtful, and nuanced perspectives while we talked about: Nourishing the places we've neglected, and honing our foundations Planning for the "tides" in business Not allowing shame to...

I have always loved the word "catalyst." To me, it refers to events or situations — like a move to a new city, a shift in physical or mental health, or changes at our jobs, for example — that can stir stuff up. Catalytic events often feel disruptive or confusing, and we might have trouble adjusting to the changes that come in their wake. But these events are also a huge opportunity to: Re-evaluate self love Think about self care Take our power back Renegotiate standards and boundaries Strengthen and expand our tools Some of us might instinctively resist change, and I get it! But if...

This week's guest is Shulamit Ber Levtov, the Entrepreneurs' Therapist and co-founder of the Business Therapy Centre. In an era of relentless stressors that can make you lose your sh*t on the daily, Shulamit works with women business owners to care for their mental and emotional wellbeing. That sense of care really came through during our time together. This truly was an "alive" conversation, full of new awareness of ourselves and the world. Tune in to hear us explore ideas like: Falling back into the arms of what is... even when it's easier to be busy than to get quiet Navigating the tension...

Let me say this right off the bat: there is no correct, perfect way to move through grief. It can be difficult to even talk about grief, because it's such a big, layered conversation with SO much nuance. How we grieve, on an individual level, involves who we are, where we come from, our beliefs, our culture, our religion, and so much more. Grief can be scary and make us self-isolate. It's also a non-linear process that can be, honestly, inconvenient as hell! But it can also be a catalyst for massive change and transformation. So with all that in mind, this week I want to talk about how...

No matter what industry you're in, I'm sure you've seen the nearly endless amount of advice for taking the best selfies and making the highest performing reels (or Tiktoks, for that matter). But none of those tips are going to help if you feel awful whenever you're in front of the camera. That's where my guest this week, Lucia Doynel, comes in! Lucia helps coaches feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera using Spiritual Psychology tools. When it comes to visibility and intuition, this is a woman who clearly walks her talk. Our conversation went in a few directions I didn't expect,...

At some point, every one of us learns firsthand that sometimes, things just don't work out the way we wanted them to. But once the dust settles, what comes next? Well, as long time listeners of the podcast already know, for me, last year was one of those years where things just didn't go as planned. So this week, I want talk about two ideas that I've used at different points in my life: the do-over, and the free pass. If you're loving these ideas but you're not sure how to implement them, remember that I'm always here to help! You can get in touch via my website,...

info_outlineMy guest this week is Mai-kee Tsang, host of the Quiet Rebels Podcast. Mai-kee is also a podcast guesting trainer and sustainable visibility mentor who helps underestimated and underrepresented women-identifying entrepreneurs to become safer, be seen as they become more visible, and deepen their impact on the world. Back in season 3, she came onto the show to discuss podcasting, leadership, and letting go of "should," but today she's here to talk all about her experiences with READY!
Tune in to hear about:
- Her thoughts on visibility and trauma, and how this led her to the program
- Making mistakes, crying, and being FULLY human
- Her biggest takeaways from READY
"The majority of conversations around visibility is just 'Put yourself out there' and it's very dismissive. It fails to validate and acknowledge the lived experiences that we have that have been less than beautiful. And so becoming aware of how my own trauma impacts, how I show up. I really wanted to start doing that deeper work with other people, but it didn't feel right for me. It didn't feel in integrity for me to do it without any further training[...] So I really want to see from multiple lenses because I carry my own lived experiences."
Mai-kee, thank you so much for coming onto the podcast again and sharing your experiences with us. Want more from Mai-kee? Of course you do! For starters, listen to the Quiet Rebels Podcast here: https://maikeetsang.com/podcast/
