*Best of the series so far*

 

This is the best of the series so far. Finally, there’s the action and monster fighting that I’d wanted all along. Not only does the group do a rather good dungeon dive, there are other conflicts that add good tension to the story. There’s still the magical academy element but it's mostly used for training and to push how the characters progress with their powers without needing them to rank up. 

 

Overall, a really good entry in the series that only took a single sitting to get through.

Another really good entry in the competitive RPG apocalypse series. More action, adventure, and weird ass mayhem. The progression is front loaded mostly and there are some interesting twists in how Carl and Princess Donut face the challenges thrown at them on this level. But I’m really looking forward to plot development teased through the series and finally setup at the end of the book. Good stuff all around.

The aggressive invaders from another galaxy cannot be stopped. The Composite keeps capturing system after system wiping out everything in its path, and there is no sign of a force capable of standing up to it.

 

In the search for allies, Gnat embarks on a long journey aimed at uniting the various branches of the human race. And though the potential for alliance is there, how can he convince them to set off to fight a suicidal war with such a disastrous balance of forces?

 

Beyond that, things aren’t as easy as they initially seemed with the humans from the far-off Empire, and they have a compelling reason not to enter this war which does not concern them. There's also the status of sole ruler of humanity at stake, which is not the kind of achievement that can be shared.

 

And that means one of the human leaders will have to back down.

 

My Opinion: 491 pages, $6.99, Not Available On Kindle Unlimited

 

This is an entry in the series that deserves some kudos. It brings in characters/forces from another of the author’s series, Perimeter Defense, rather smoothly and uses them well. You don’t have to have read that series to enjoy this book, there’s been enough setup of them in the last one to have them as a new and important faction in the story. I appreciated the update on the characters and the explanation on how that story world blends into this one. 

 

Other than that, most of the story is a slice of life adventure with the main character (MC) advancing a bit on several storylines including the Composite and some setup for a next book conflict. Good stuff, if a little lighter on the action.

 

Overall, a good read. Especially if you’ve already read the Perimeter Defense series and liked those characters.

Welcome to the challenge. You’re an absolute nobody here—nothing; a zero; a useless lump of meat filled with bones. You’re but a delicious morsel for your antagonists and those who got lucky at the start. The only goal you can have in your miserable existence is to kick the bucket as soon as possible.

 

My Opinion: 355 pages, $5.99, Available On Kindle Unlimited

 

*Good PvP geared story*

 

This is a  story set in a modern setting where a large group of people suddenly fine themselves in a new world pitted against one another in a kill or be killed game. The MC finds he is classified as "meat" or a classless individual meant to be fodder for the others, giving big rewards when killed. The MC has to find a way to survive his encounters with these other players and learn about the rules of this new world.

 

Game mechanics skew towards a PvP RPG system. Players get resource units with each kill of a player or monster that are used to gain a level, upgrade stats, upgrade/ repair equipment, learn system skills. Additionally, all material resources like weapons, armor, and medicines come from loot crates dropped by killed people and monsters. The story makes getting these crates from kills a key part of the progression system.

 

Story wise, it's a slice life survival story with the beginning to mid story focused on the Mc figuring out where he was, the rules of the system, and how to become powerful. The rest of the story pits the MC against many monsters and players as he gains resources, levels, and weapons. Really pushing past what his classless role was meant to be. The story is really action focused past the first 10% of the story and once the MC started actively fighting it was really good. 

 

Overall, once past the beginning awkwardness the story was pretty good with regular action, smart fights, and a variety of tactics to gain power. Good stuff.

This is an online manga about a dungeon diver who upon the verge of death after a betrayal by his group finds a connection to his past lives and gains various traits and powers from them. It’s a simple slice of life dungeon dive story set in the modern world. RPG mechanics are fairly simple with ranks,ability levels, equipment with descriptions and a society that has integrated dungeon diving into societies structure and the more powerful a diver you are the more status you have in the world. Overall a good story with regular action and clean good looking art panels.
