Statement of Need 
This podcast will discuss female-patterned heart disease. Cardiovascular disease continues to be one of the leading causes of mortality for women. Research indicates that there continues to be disparities in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease for women, resulting in greater mortality rate. (American Journal of Preventive Cardiology). The goal of this program is to highlight risks, symptoms and diagnostic characteristics specific to female patients with the goal of earlier intervention and improved patient outcomes.
 
Objectives

At the conclusion of this offering, the participant will be able to:

  1. Define female-patterned heart disease and presenting symptoms unique to females.
  2. Discuss the latest diagnostic guidelines for female-patterned heart disease.
  3. Describe female specific risk factors of cardiovascular disease.
