Louisville criminal defense attorney Tim Denison is originally from Glasgow, KY.  He attended Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY (Psychology) and earned his J.D. from the University of Louisville’s Brandeis School of Law in 1991.

The core of Tim’s practice focuses on Criminal Law, including murder and manslaughter charges, various drug charges, assaults, expungements and more.  Expungements allow certain charges to be erased from a person’s criminal record, but there are multiple factors to be considered.  Just having a charge dismissed, doesn’t mean it’s been expunged from your record.

Tim has a thriving niche handling Judicial Misconduct and Attorney Disciplinary actions.  In Kentucky, Attorney discipline is brought before the Kentucky Bar Association.  Judicial Misconduct actions are heard before the Judicial Conduct Commission.

Tim regularly gives seminars on various legal ethics topics and lectures around the country.  Tim’s certified to mediate civil cases and family law cases.  In certain jurisdictions in Kentucky, Tim can also mediate criminal cases.

Tim Denison practices in District, Circuit and Federal court.  Episode 2 will focus on the differences between the Circuit and Federal systems.

Why Criminal Law?

Tim developed a niche in criminal law, over time.  An effective criminal defense lawyer is a trial lawyer by nature.  The ability to think on your feet is a definite advantage.  Preparation is vital to presenting a solid defense on behalf of his clients.

The ability to mount a vigorous defense is critical, regardless of the client’s guilt or innocence.  Holding the prosecution, their witnesses and the system accountable is an important focus Tim emphasizes.

Tim goes on to discuss the value of public defenders, representing people charged with various crimes and some of the changes he’s seen in almost 29 years of trial practice.
