Today, I want to talk about something that’s been circulating on X called The Dog Theory. And when I saw it, it hit me immediately because it connects directly to something I’ve believed and taught for years. Here’s the idea: Dogs wake up every day excited to see the same people, eat the same food, and walk the same route. And somehow… they’re happier than most humans. Think about that. Same bowl. Same house. Same walk. Same humans. And pure joy. Meanwhile, we as entrepreneurs are constantly chasing the next upgrade. Bigger deal. Better city. Better house. Better tech stack. Better...

From those beginnings, he rebuilt his life and went on to build multiple companies, including Tipnes Capital and Tipnes...

What if most of your frustration isn’t caused by other people… but by the story you’re telling yourself? In this solo episode, Dave explores a powerful concept from the Chinese sage Zhuangzi known as The Empty Boat Theory — and why it may be one of the most important emotional mastery lessons an entrepreneur can learn. As leaders, we constantly interpret events: a missed email, a lost deal, a short reply, a delayed response. But are those boats actually steered at you — or are they empty? Learning the difference can transform how you lead, react, and perform under pressure. In this...

Yes, I’m back. It’s been a couple of weeks since I released a new episode, and today’s show is a little different—but maybe one of the most important I’ve ever done.
Why? Because over the last five weeks, I’ve been on a journey—a journey of healing, of physical and mental challenge, of patience, and of rediscovery. And I want to share some of the incredible lessons I’ve learned along the way.
You may or may not know, I had a pretty major setback with my back. A disc extrusion at L3-L4 compressed a nerve and literally made it so I couldn’t stand, walk, or sleep without pain. I went from top-tier Ironman athlete—training 15 to 20 hours a week—to someone who couldn’t even put on socks without pain shooting down my leg.
And I want to be honest—it was humbling. It shook me.
But in that experience, I found a deeper level of discipline, resilience, and focus than I’ve ever tapped into before. And that’s what I want to talk about today. Because the lessons I’ve learned in healing my body translate perfectly to building a business, growing a team, and leading in life.
