The Mondoweiss Podcast
In this episode, we break down what really happened during the so-called "12-Day War" between Israel, the U.S., and Iran — and why it's not about nuclear weapons. Dr. Assal Rad joins us to speak on the role Israel's need for regional instability, and how Western media coverage obscures the bigger picture: the ongoing genocide in Gaza and the occupation at the heart of every crisis in the region. Because, as Dr. Rad reminds us, nothing in the region will be resolved until Palestinians are free. - - - - - Support our work Help us continue our critical, independent coverage of events in...

As Israel bombs Iran, and the threat of U.S. military escalation grows by the hour, the world’s attention is being pulled into yet another war that Israel started and the West manufactured. After flattening Gaza and locking down the West Bank Israel has now dragged Iran into open confrontation — and is calling on the U.S. to finish the job. Meanwhile, Trump is back in the headlines, promising not a ceasefire but a “real end” to Iran’s nuclear program — even hinting at direct U.S. strikes. But what’s really happening here? What does this moment mean for the people of Iran, the...

Co-directed with Michael Workman and produced by BreakThrough News and Watermelon Pictures, the film offers an embedded look at the nonviolent protest that began at Columbia University and spread to more than 100 campuses across the U.S. In April 2024, Columbia students set up an encampment demanding the university divest from companies complicit in...

After nearly 16 months of genocide, Palestinians saw a long-awaited respite when a ceasefire was announced in mid-January. But while the bombs have stopped raining down on Gaza—for now—Israel’s attacks on Palestinians across occupied lands continue. With only 42 days of ceasefire guaranteed, Israeli politicians are already plotting their return to war while escalating settler and state violence in the West Bank. This is the second episode in a three-part series in collaboration with Mondoweiss and Al-Shabaka, the Palestine Policy Network, where we explore what happens next and what the...

Today’s episode was recorded just before the one-year anniversary of October 7th, the date marking the beginning of the most recent iteration of Israel’s genocidal campaign in Gaza. Unfortunately, we missed the release date, but we still felt it was crucial to share this conversation as events continue to unfold. Since the recording, Israel has not only continued its brutal assault on Gaza but has also intensified its aggression in Lebanon, with hundreds killed and over a million people displaced as Israel prepares for a ground invasion. In this episode, I speak with Diana Buttu, who...

In the past few weeks, Israel has bombed Lebanon, assassinated Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah, launched a ground invasion, and displaced over a million people. Health care workers are warning of an 'apocalyptic' situation, with many now sleeping on the streets of Beirut. More than 1,300 have been killed, including at least one Lebanese American citizen. Meanwhile, Israel continues to commit genocide in Gaza and carry out military invasions in the occupied West Bank. On Tuesday, Iran launched over 100 missiles at Israel, targeting military sites in retaliation for Israel’s killings...
info_outlineA Girl Scout Troop in Missouri recently broke away from the organization after it made legal threats against the group.
For the Girl Scout's “Agents of Change” capstone project, a St. Louis county troop decided to make and sell bracelets to raise money for children in Gaza.
The Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri said the move was “political" and instructed them to shut down the fundraiser.
The children in this particular troop were inspired by other troops that raised money for war victims in Ukraine. Those troops faced no repercussions over their fundraisers.
Despite breaking away from the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri, the group is staying together, and their bracelet campaign has continued.
Mondoweiss’s U.S. Correspondent Michael Arria spoke with Girl Scout Troop Leader and mother to one of the scouts, Nawal Abuhamdeh, and two of the Girl Scouts about the situation.
