info_outlineToday I'll be speaking with Petra Fisher about our Pelvic Floor – what it is and what it does for you. Dr. Mary Peric mentioned our pelvic floor the previous episode and I think it's a part of our body that doesn’t get enough air-time. We talk about core muscles or doing keegles but not what the pelvic floor really means to us functionally - those are just some of the questions we'll be exploring about today.
Petra Fisher is a Restorative Exercise Specialist, certified by Katy Bowman's Nutritious Movement organization to teach corrective exercise. She is also a teacher trainer for Nutritious Movement, and an instructor for the international Move Your DNA workshop program, which is how I first met her. After spending time exploring the subtleties of joint movement vs range of motion, we practiced the art of walking naturally and hanging (literally) in the jungle gym behind her studio. When she's not teaching, you'll still probably find her barefoot, hanging out on the monkey bars.
Petra has a passion for helping people find greater ease, joy and health in their bodies. She believes that better movement can help every body - and she's always happy to chat about it.
Petra is also a certified personal trainer and a recovering lawyer. Petra blogs at www.petrafishermovement.com.
