Lilly Bekele-Piper is an international education and communication strategist, speaker and activist and is the Executive Producer and host of the Up/Root podcast. After completing her BA at Wake Forest University and a Masters in Higher Education at Harvard University, Lilly moved back to her homeland of Ethiopia with her family in2007 and then to Nairobi in 2011. In 2018, Lilly launched Up/Root - a global podcast on identity and culture that elevates stories of joy, resilience and justice in the region, continent and diaspora. Up/Root curates live podcast events throughout Nairobi and in2019, produced two episodes with UNICEF in Kakuma Refugee Camp. Lilly recently spoke about her life and work at Dadasphere 11, at Alt Summit 2020 and is a frequent guest on global radio and TV programming. Lilly is a popular speaker in Nairobi and at Lavington Vineyard Church and has found her calling at the intersection of human rights, justice and the creative arts. By far, her greatest joy and privilege is parenting Selah, Solomon, Silas and Saron with her college love of 20 years, Ben.
