Looking for a way to differentiate instruction for everyone in the classroom?  Well, you are in for a treat as we speak with Sarah Emerling, a Special Education teacher from South Carolina where we talk about Freckle.  She tells us how Freckle wants to reach all of your students at the level that’s best for them!

Freckle empowers teachers to differentiate instruction across Math, ELA, Social Studies and Science.

Freckle

Sarah Emerling received her Bachelors in Elementary and Special Education, National Board Certified as Exceptional Needs Specialist. She also was the District Teacher of the Year Finalist two times.

Sarah tells us, “My name is Sarah Emerling, and I co-teach in fourth and fifth grade. I'm married to Chris Emerling, a high school English teacher (who also really loves technology). We have two awesome kids, who both come to school with me every day. I graduated from SUNY Geneseo with dual certification in both elementary education and special education. This is my eighteenth year of teaching, and I absolutely love this job. True co-taught inclusion classes are where my heart lives.  Students in co-taught classes get the benefit of having two teachers for that class period. My role is to serve and support all students in those classes, as well as supporting teachers as they strive to meet our students' unique needs. I am an enormous advocate of educational technology and teaching students to create their own learning. I am thrilled to be a part of the Full Circle Technology program, allowing students that I work with to have laptops at their disposal daily. As we explore the 1:1 technology environment, our students are learning essential 21st century skills that will help them throughout their lives.

Freckle has been a game-changer in my classroom. We first started using the free edition several years ago and fell in love. It is an adaptive math program that meets students at their level. They can work to catch up on skills they haven't mastered, while at the same time progressing through skills that are above grade level in other domains. The students are highly engaged in the program and the data it generates is phenomenal. There are many different ways to track data, incentivize learning, and engage students. It's a flexible and fantastic program.”
