Stephen J. Adler was about eight years old when he started a neighborhood newspaper, and he has been passionate about the profession ever since.

His role as editor-in-chief at Reuters, since January 2013, follows earlier positions in newsroom management at BusinessWeek, The Wall Street Journal, and The American Lawyer. He is actively involved in multiple nonprofit journalism organizations, including the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, which he chairs, the Columbia Journalism Review, which he also chairs, and the Committee to Protect Journalists.
