Devon Coombs is a technical accounting advisory professional. He started his career at one of the largest accounting firms in the world, Deloitte. But he wasn’t always around accounting. Devon grew up never knowing his father. And when he was 15, his mom passed away. It was then, that Devon found solace in music - first playing with various bands and eventually starting his own record label at 18 years old. With that eventually failing and forced out of his home, Devon found himself waiting tables and often living out of his car. Still he kept looking ahead. Eventually finding his way to college. Finding a new passion in accounting, but more importantly, finding his passion in teaching and helping others. On this episode Devon talks about how the words you choose can have a big impact on an organization. How and why a lot of people don’t ask for help. And that he never felt like giving up was an option. To never stop trying.
