To help provide for his family, Leo pursues his dream of becoming a salvage diver and welder by joining the Navy. To achieve this he must leave his wife and baby at home, and move to San Diego, and then go out to sea.
info_outlineLeo's two half brothers are killed at a young age, as a result of choosing a negative life path. He decides he needs to make a different decision for his life. Sometimes the neighborhoods and influences are so strong it's hard to not join the negative.
After moving from Palm Springs to gang-run neighborhoods of Los Angeles, Leo tries to choose what's going to be best road, asking "what do I want for me?" He relied on his technique of "assess and adjust", hoping to survive until he ages out of the foster care system, when he will be "kicked to the curb."
With each move to live with his alcoholic dad, foster families, neighbors, and strangers, he has to create a new life for himself.
