They had a great conversation about a number of topics. Andrew has a background in Ayurvedic medicine, he has an extensive background in martial arts which he ties into the practice of acupuncture and herbal medicine. They talked about the history and application of acupuncture - what one can expect if one was to go for the acupuncture treatments including the sessions, including what to expect in terms of treatment durations, outcomes, what the scientific background for accupuncture is. Anyone who's interested in acupuncture, for that matter, if acupuncture can be helpful for them, for their pain, for their anxiety, for stress, would be very interested in hearing Andrew speak because he brings a lot of different aspects of his background to the conversation and enlightens us about acupuncture and its applications.
Andrew Appello MSOM, L.Ac., RH(AHG), RN is a practicing clinical herbalist, acupuncturist, and registered nurse whose commitment to natural therapies and traditional Asian healing modalities began in his youth with his pursuit of the martial arts. His masters were teachers who kept the ancient practice of combining traditional healing modalities with the various martial arts forms. After earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Rider University, Andrew turned his focus to his lifelong commitment to the study of the martial arts and their accompanying ancient healing disciplines. He pursued formal training of these therapies at highly regarded American schools, and apprenticed with leaders in the fields of acupuncture and herbal therapeutics.
He received a Master of Science degree in Oriental Medicine, covering both internal and external medicine, from the Tri-State College of Acupuncture in Manhattan. Here, he studied three styles of acupuncture:
Japanese Acupuncture under Kilko Matsamoto
Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture
Western Acupuncture, including bio-medical acupuncture and trigger point therapy
and two forms of herbal healing:

Dr. Zinovy Meyler is a board certified, fellowship trained physician specializing in the non-operative care of spine, joint, muscle and nerve pain. After graduating from New York University and receiving his medical degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Meyler performed his specialty training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, The University Hospital of Columbia and Cornell, where he was honored to serve as Chief Resident. Following residency, Dr. Meyler received additional training in ultrasound guidance at the Mayo Clinic and completed his fellowship training in interventional spine and joint medicine at the prestigious Beth Israel Spine Institute in Manhattan. Dr. Meyler is the author of multiple medical chapters and peer-reviewed papers. He serves as a reviewer for medical journals and lectures widely. Dr. Meyler’s expert medical opinion has been sought in newspapers and on radio shows, as well as on this podcast.
