Marzia Salgarello is the Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery and Head of the Plastic Surgery Department of the Agostino Gemelli University Polyclinic Foundation. 

An academic powerhouse with more than 120 papers to her name, she specializes in microsurgery and aesthetics. She is known to be a mentor to those around her.

At her clinic, she specializes in performs breast reconstruction with prosthesis in a single step, i.e. with the immediate use of a definitive prosthesis without having to resort to a second operation to change the prosthesis, or with the tissues of the abdomen. In this case it involves using one's own tissues without the use of prostheses such as an autotransplant.
