With that cleared up we can dust off our rank coats and get adorned so that we can look the part astride our rank beasts, who are naturally resplendant in rank regalia of their own. I say, 'of their own', but they neither procured nor maintain it. Despite this apparently uneven relationship, we persist, because they bring an aesthetic that isn't replaceable nor necessarily achievable by a more accountable regalia-purchasers.
