Man, it feels so good to be back sharing my thoughts on Guy's Trip after taking a little break. I wanted to kick things off by sharing something I recently learned that really gave me a new perspective - that 90% of the time we'll have with our kids is done by the time they're 18! I knew Excel would be the perfect way for me to illustrate this statistic using my own family as an example. Breaking down Cal's life into those different stages and plugging in my best guesses for how much time we'll get to spend together really drove the point home. If this calculation helps even one other dad appreciate the precious little time we have with our sons and daughters, it will have been worth it. I hope listeners will take this opportunity to make the most of the moments that really matter.
03:00 Doing the math on how much time we get with our children.
05:00 Time as our children grow up and gain more independence.
06:15 Ten years from now will you be proud of how you spent your time?
