Located at Greenslopes hospital in Brisbane, Gallipoli Medical Research Foundation (GMRF) undertakes clinical trials research and patient treatment targeting diseases and health concerns that disproportionately affect ADF veterans. Key veteran focal areas for GMRF areas include liver disease, skin cancer melanoma and post traumatic stress disorder.
GMRF has also undertaken significant research around the difficulty veterans face transitioning out of service, commissioning a number of studies to measure and discover the causes of the re-adjustment difficulties many veterans face.
In partnership with RSL Queensland, GMRF conducted a six year research study to investigate the transition experience and psychological adjustment and cultural reintegration to civilian life. This study led to the development of the post-transition Military-Civilian Adjustment and Reintegration Measure (M-CARM).
M-CARM is a world first online survey based tool where after transitioning from service, ADF veterans can complete a 5 minute survey and receive personalised feedback on their transition and re-integration progress.
Areas identified for improvement can then be directly addressed by the Go Beyond self paced online program recently launched. Go Beyond features modules on;
