How do you avoid the inevitable sense of overwhelm that pervades at the start of a thematic review? In this workshop we consider methodologies that enable the review to maintain its focus on the high level ideas.

Kate Spreadbury is an independent social worker specialising in adult safeguarding, has worked as a local authority adult safeguarding lead and with Safeguarding Adults Boards to review and develop policy and practice.  Co-author of the Adult Safeguarding Practice Handbook [Kate Spreadbury & Rachel Hubbard] & has been influential in bringing various practice issues and institutional barriers to the fore. Kate has authored thematic reviews for Gloucestershire & Hampshire Safeguarding Adults Boards & co-authored the Analysis of Safeguarding Adults Reviews 2017-2019 [Preston Shoot, Braye, Spreadbury, Preston, Allen]

Donna has 16 years public sector experience, including her last role as Head of Law for a leading metropolitan authority. Now a safeguarding adviser & trainer, Donna is involved in serious case reviews in both children’s and adults’ safeguarding, domestic homicide and is a SILP Reviewer and Mentor. Donna offers ‘SILP School’ her university accredited training course, CPD for reviewers & a free online network for leaders in review practice
