Today’s episode is all about the customer’s experience. I feel like we equate it to customer service, and that it’s just something that we have to do rather than something that we get to do as business owners and as brands. As people, any interaction with customer service is usually one that you’re super frustrated because you’re coming in with a problem and get sub par experience of how that problem is handled. Customer expectations are higher than they’ve ever been. As customers, we have so many more choices than we’ve ever had before. We’ve become more discerning about our...

Today, I want to talk about the power in hiring your mentors. I know it sounds strange because a lot of people are accustomed to a mentorship being a freebie. If you’re the mentor, someone has probably begged or pleaded with you to kindly share your wisdom, advice, your contacts and connections with them because you’re further along the path then they are. Sometimes you say yes, and it usually looks like you giving your time for free without a regular cadence or consistency, without deep stretches of time, and it’s just based on when you happen to be available. And if you’re the...

Time is the one thing that levels the playing field. No matter how much money you have, no matter what your life looks like, we all have the same 1440 minutes in the day. It’s about how we choose to fill our time, and what our experience with those minutes is like. As we grow, evolve, and mature, the expectation for work to be our top priority is maintained or even increases. As we come up the ladder, we think every new accomplishment is going to free us in some way, when it actually requires us to take on more responsibility and robs us of time. This also remains true even when you become...
info_outlineIf you feel self indulgent for self promotion this episode is for you! Elizabeth breaks down:
- How we should look at self-promotion.
- Questions that invite genuine conversation.
- Finding a bigger purpose.
- “Don’t do what the world needs, do what makes you come alive.” - Howard Thurman
One of the things that I think is hard for entrepreneurs, particularly women entrepreneurs is the notion of having to self-promote. But here’s the thing, self promotion should feel good and empowering, not icky and self indulgent. One of the ways I’ve found that I connect best with people about what I do, or what they do - is by asking questions that actually invite a genuine conversation to occur. Don’t ask what someone does, ask what they’re doing right now that’s got them really excited. Because if you have a purpose that is bigger than you and you can give voice to that and explain those passions, why you have them or what you’re doing about them - that is where the real connections and sparks occur! Having those conversations shows others how you are aligning your time, money, and energy behind something that you so deeply believe in that it truly makes you come alive. Self promotion doesn't have to be at the surface level of who you are and what you do, what makes self promotion feel attractive is when you’re giving voice to something bigger than you that you believe in with every cell of your body. Lead with that, using your business or job to underscore that bigger mission because that is what leads to authentic connection and business growth.
