Hello, beautiful souls! Welcome back to The Everyday Life Balance Show. I am Pascale Gibon, your host, and I'm so delighted to have you join me for episode 370, week 5 of our Gratitude Experiment. Thank you for making this time for yourself, tuning in, and continuing this beautiful journey into gratitude.

 

I hope you enjoyed week 4 of mindful gratitude meditation. Remember that it's a guided meditation you can return to anytime.

 

This week, we'll dive into an essential step in our Gratitude Experiment: cultivating an attitude of gratitude. Gratitude is more than a feeling; it's a way of seeing the world, a mindset that transforms how we live and experience life.

 

But before we step into this week's theme, let's take a moment to reflect on the incredible work you've done over the past four weeks:

 

On Week 1: Unlocking Happiness

We began with the foundational practice of daily gratitude, focusing on the little things in life that bring us joy. The goal was to unlock happiness by noticing and appreciating life's simple, precious moments.

 

On Week 2: The Gift of Gratitude

We shifted our focus to the people in our lives. We practised expressing gratitude to those who uplifted us and even reflected on the lessons learnt from those who challenged us. Gratitude became a gift: something we could give and receive.

 

On Week 3: Harvesting Hope

We explored how gratitude nurtures hope. Inspired by Nelson Mandela's resilience, we learnt to find light even in life's darkest moments and to see the goodness in both ourselves and others.

 

On Week 4: Mindful Gratitude

We slowed down and embraced mindfulness with a guided gratitude meditation. This practice invited us to connect deeply with the present moment, appreciating the little things we often take for granted, like the changing seasons, the sound of birdsong, or the comforts of home.

Gratitude does not just transform our outlook; it changes how we interact with life. As scientists, philosophers, and teachers have long agreed, we become what we think about. 

Earl Nightingale famously said in The Strangest Secret: "We become what we think about." This wisdom reminds us that our internal state influences the quality of our lives. When gratitude becomes a consistent part of our mindset, we create a ripple effect of positivity, abundance, and joy.  

 

You see, gratitude is not just a passing emotion; it's a powerful force for change. As Tony Robbins so beautifully put it:

"When you are grateful, fear disappears, and abundance appears."

Let us pause to reflect on these words:  

"When you are grateful, fear disappears, and abundance appears."

 

Indeed, gratitude dissolves fear and scarcity, replacing them with abundance and possibility. It shifts our focus from what's lacking to what's already present and good in our lives.

 

This week's challenge is to embrace an attitude of gratitude.

I invite you to make gratitude a way of life. Instead of practising gratitude occasionally, let's weave it into the fabric of our daily existence. 

 

Here is a simple challenge for the week:

  1. Each day, identify one thing you are profoundly grateful for.
  2. Reflect on how this act of gratitude influences your mood, mindset and day.

For me, the gift of life itself is something I am endlessly grateful for. Every day is a new opportunity to grow, love, and experience the beauty of the world despite its challenges.
