info_outlineAt the time Rea Ann Silva created Beautyblender, she was a makeup artist for the series "Girlfriend" starring Tracee Ellis Ross. She had already built up a name for herself by working with celebrities like Mariah Carey, Brandi and Whitney Houston, but makeup for high definition television was a new challenge. The Latin business woman learned tricks from the special effects teams and techniques from the silver screen era to develop a sponge applicator in the shape of a teardrop. It worked so well that people started stealing them from her sets.
In 2002 she launched the business that has now sold over 50 million bright pink sponges. Over the years, other brands have released a similar product, but Beauty Blender remains at the top projecting over $200 million in global sales this year. It has been recognized as the Best Makeup Tool by the Cosmetic Executive Women Beauty Awards and is the Best of Beauty winner by Allure magazine multiple years over. She recently released Bounce, a liquid foundation in 40 shades with rave reviews. The mother of two and new grandmother has mastered the art of hard work and is here with us today to speak her truth about accomplishing dreams, being fearless and how to overcome hardships as an entrepreneur.
