Moon in Scorpio Guru Purnima

Todays Vedic Astrology Podcast

Release Date: 07/10/2014

On Tuesday, Wednesday and into Thursday the moon will be in Scorpio, where it is debilitated. Later in the week the moon moves into Sagittarius, in preparation for the annual celebration of our Guru.

There’s an important transition that happens in the zodiac between the Scorpio/Sagittarius axis. Scorpio is the sign where we have to face our insecurities, emotional stresses and fears. Doing this brings us face-to-face with the frightening notion: we have no control of anything. Realizing this lack of control creates a lot of stress, and the desire to control circumstances, and people.

Certain planets do quite well in this environment, like the sun, Jupiter and Mars. Those masculine planets have enormous emotional courage, and are not overwhelmed by the work and problems of Scorpio.

Yet, the moon/the heart wants stability and connection, not drama or intensity.

The Transition into Sagittarius

Once we realize we have no control (Scorpio) we seek a higher meaning and purpose (Sagittarius). The transition from Scorpio into Sagittarius is in many ways the transition of a human being from just another scared animal into becoming a creature of God.

We seek higher meaning and purpose in Sagittarius. This higher purpose elevates her mind beyond just the primal fears of Scorpio. As such, in Sagittarius we see our teachers and teachings that inspire and motivate us. The upcoming full moon in Sagittarius will be the day to worship our teachers, called Guru Purnima. On the full moon our mind is most ripe and fertile, and in this case it is the most ripe and fertile to receive the authentic teachings of the Guru.

July 12, 2014 will be the day for this celebration of your Gurus and teachers.
