Thomas Rother liest aus seinem Buch „grenzen los - Texte, Gedichte, Dokumente zur Lage von gestern, für heute und morgen“, erschienen im asso verlag Oberhausen, 2016. Aufnahme vom 14. März 2017, UNESCO-Welterbe Zollverein, Areal B [Schacht 1/2/8], Kunstschacht Zollverein. Aufnahme vom 14.03.2017. Aufgenommen und bearbeitet von Karl-Heinz Gajewsky. Thomas Rother, 1937 in Frankfurt/Oder geboren, Abitur in der DDR, Übersiedlung nach Essen 1955, Maurerlehre, studierte Publizistik, Soziologie und Germanistik in Münster. Journalist bei der Westdeutschen Allgemeinen Zeitung. Schriftsteller, bildender Künstler mit Skulpturen aus Holz, Stein und Stahl. Graphische Arbeiten, 1984/85 Gastprofessor an der Universität Duisburg-Essen. Lebt und arbeitet im „Kunstschacht Zollverein“, seit 1992 Museum. Er ist Bildender Künstler und Verfasser von Romanen, Erzählungen, Reportagen, Gedichten und Liedertexten. Auszeichnungen: Luise-Rinser-Preis 1981, Arbeitsstipendium der Alfred-und-Cläre-Pott-Stiftung 1990, Kulturpreis der Evangelischen Kirche im Rheinland 1995 und Atelierstipendium im „Kunstkäfig“ der Sutter-Gruppe, 1. Preis Wettbewerb Okologie und Kunst (Öko-Zentrum NRW Hamm).
