We're joined by Grace to talk about FRIGHT, written by GARY FRIEDRICH with art by FRANK THORNE. This may have been a Tomb of Dracula clone with a younger twist. We'll never know, but we know David Anthony Kraft was waiting in the wings to take over writing duties...but it wasn't meant to be. We're joined by Robb, Bryan, and Jamie from Marvel by the Month to talk about THE COUGAR, written by STEVE MITCHELL with art by DAN ADKINS and FRANK SPRINGER. What started as a KOLCHAK, THE NIGHT STALKER comic turned into this strange book about a movie stuntman that fights monsters by night. We're joined by Jason Farrell, Matt's former co-host of THE BOOKHOUSE BOYS podcast, to talk about TARGITT, written by RIC MEYERS with art by HOWARD NOSTRAND. John Targitt is a defective clone made from DNA of Frank Bullitt, Harry Callahan, and Paul Kersey (Bronson's character from Death Wish). He's an FBI agent who wages an all-out war on crime after his wife & daughter are caught in the crossfire of syndicate violence. For our final season, we're covering the short life of Martin Goodman's Atlas/Seaboard comics by reviewing all the debut issues from their line. We're joined by Jared from the SWORDS & SCROLLS podcast to talk about WULF THE BARBARIAN, written and drawn by LARRY HAMA with inks by KLAUS JANSON. Hama created a character who's a "barbarian" in name only. "Wulf the Warrior" would have been a better name, but we suspect the shot-callers were chasing Conan's audience. For our final season, we're covering the short life of Martin Goodman's Atlas/Seaboard comics by reviewing all the debut issues from their line. We're joined by prolific metal god Matt Harvey (Exhumed, Left to Die, Gruesome, and Cold Slither) to talk about WEIRD SUSPENSE f/ THE TARANTULA: Michael Fleisher & Pat Boyette's tale of a the Lycosas, a line of European counts with arachnanthropy (is that what you'd call a were-spider?) forever cursed for burning the high priestess of The Cult of the Tarantula at the stake. Martin Goodman wanted to offer a robust & varied line of comics to compete with Marvel, DC, et al, so he needed a teen-humor mag. He used the art from Tower's TIPPY TEEN (1965-69) and only changed the main character's name...et voila...something to compete with Archie and the gang! We briefly talk about the history of Archie and its clones and then proudly present THREE Vicki stories Power Records-style with real teens as voice talent, sound effects, and original music. What do you get when you make a stew out of Orwell's 1984 heavily seasoned with Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 and generous pinches of A Clockwork Orange and a dash of The Time Machine? Why, Michael Fleisher's crazy dystopian body horror sci-fi book MORLOCK 2001, of course!
